Event Recap: Mountain Mayhem Spring 2024

Event season is kicking off once more in Maine, and you know what that means. A lot of really good times with great people ahead! While enjoying the world’s best Cannabis in the idealistic tranquil beauty of Maine. Events in Maine come in all shapes and sizes some being large events in places like Convention Centers while others can be in someone’s backyard. Just because ones in a fancy location and has a bigger budget doesn’t mean it’s going to be better than the one the homies put together with what they could!

This year’s Mountain Mayhem presented by Hiker Trash and The Stoner Show took place in Gilead, Maine on May 25th. Those who purchased VIP tickets got in at 2pm and General Admission was let in at 3pm. There were a few music sets throughout the day by the reggae band Catch a Vibe.

There were plenty of lawn games to keep everyone entertained throughout the day. Including plastic axe throwing which was actually really fun! Cornhole, and a bunch of new age games that I don’t know the name of! There were also plenty of hammocks for you to lounge away and relax enjoying the beautiful weather.

The location was really nice for an event like this. Not too far on a back road but still in the country with beautiful mountain views. It was also right next to a horse farm you could go and visit. Which I of course did multiple times! The hosts did an excellent job at spreading out the vendors throughout the event, not just cramming everyone together.

I must mention that the hosts Hiker Trash did a very cool and honorable thing. Instead of taking the opportunity of hosting this event as a way to give themselves the best booth at the very front of the entrance. Hiker Trash did the very opposite. They actually had no booth the vend at, instead were the ones who greeted attendees as they walked in! I truly appreciated this kind gesture and believe things like this were what added to the great vibe.

The vendors of the Mountain Mayhem event included a lot of talented Maine growers such as High Striker Farms, Humble Family Farms, Woodstock Farmacy, Armonice Botanicals and many more. With so many talented growers one could get the variety of multiple dispensaries while getting the freshness and the prices of going direct to the farmer.

There was also live glass blowing done by Slate Glass, Mrs. Claws and Tammy Baller. Each artist had their glass for sale, at prices much better than you would find at a store. Events like this also give you the opportunity to speak directly with the artists and find out if they take commissions, and get a custom piece made.

No Cannabis event would be complete without a session and The Old Man Of The Mountain's awesome Hashish Tasting Experience kept the session going the whole event! They even brough out the Hookah which a lot of people were really enjoying trying. For those who don’t know a hookah has multiple straws which means it can be consumed by multiple people at a time. There’s no need to worry about germs because you use a sterile mouthpiece each time! It’s a great way to have a community session. Once the munchies kicked in there was a BBQ pit going along with some Authentic Jamaican cuisine.

This year, being the first Mountain Mayhem, the event wasn't packed with people. Which isn't a bad thing considering some events can get very overcrowded. Those in attendance had a great time and had plenty of space to enjoy themselves. They could also take their time when shopping from the vendors and not feel rushed. It's the difference in going farm to patient vs. going to a dispensary, allowing patients to truly find the medicine that works best for them.

The event couldn’t be called Mountain Mayhem without a bonfire, and the bonfire this year didn’t disappoint! Once the sun was going down the flames were going up! The flames had to reach up to 25 feet. A truly perfect way to end the evening and make you feel more connected to the earth for your drive home.
