Get To Know Your Community: Cody From Brigid Farms / House Of Hash @Codemankush5.0

Hello and welcome! Thanks for being here and letting the community get to know you better

How did you get started with Cannabis?

I have been a medical marijuana patient in Maine since I was 16 years old due to a back injury. No other career path was really ever in question. The Maine cannabis scene has been my life for the last 10 years.

What is your favorite thing about Cannabis?

My favorite thing about cannabis is the personal expierience. I find it so interesting how different strains/terp profile effect the consumer. Nothing is more gratifying than helping somoene find relief.

You work as the manager for Brigid, which has the House Of Hash location  in Portland at the Maine Mall as well as the Farm Stand in Saco. Which means you see and try A LOT of hash. Who are some of your favorite hash makers lately?

I always struggle with questions like this. I am blessed to see and try a lot of great hash options on the market, so it is always hard to narrow them down. If I had to chose 3 favorite hash makers it would be 1.)Seymour Terps 2.)Mission Hill Melts 3.) Art & Craft.

I know a lot of people shop by only THC%, Are there any other common misconceptions patients have?

I have noticed a lot of the THC% shopping has ended. It seems we have done a better job recently of educating the consumer. I always try to stress the importance of terpenes and non imparing cannabinoids that are present. I often like to compare this to alcohol. Would you walk into a liquor store and buy Everclear because it is the strongest option? Most likley not.

As someone who used to work in a head shop back in the day, I can attest to the strange requests you get. What are some of the weirdest requests you  have been asked for?

My number one request that grinds my gears in nicotine vapes. Since the City of Portland has banned flavored tabacco we have seen a huge influx in calls and walk-ins looking for tabacco products. (Not necesarily strange) but always an interesting interaction whens someone wants to buy a “crack” pipe.

Any strains you would currently call say the hype strain? What are some strains you've seen come and go.

Hype strains will always come and go. In 2019 the Maine community was obssessed with Wedding Pie. Currently the Blue Lobster is all the hype. It is always interesting what catches peoples attention. I’m super stoked the sour/piff/haze movement has really reignited. People like Lobster Family Farms, Fraktal, and The Papermill are doing the lords work finding those nostalgia strains.

Do you have a favorite terp profile?

I often joke with the guys at the shop that my favorite terp changes once a week. I am always a sucker Papaya crosses and anything with a grape/gas terp. I personally enjoy citrus profiles a lot as well. Always down to smoke some gassy hash however I feel it is easier to miss the mark with that kind of profile.

What are some changes you've seen in the Maine scene over the years?

1.)The biggest change in my world has been the Solventless Hash Movement. I often think back to the shatter days while I’m staring at some god level 90u rosin lol. I think everything cycles in and out though. I wouldn’t be shocked if in 5 years Diamonds & Sauce are all the hype again.

2.) Full Spectrum Edibles and Edible education. I feel aside from rosin, the edible market has made great strides. The options nowadays are almost overhwelming. It is super important for me to have products for non smokers. Quality edibles and proper education on them is going to be a focal point for me in 2024.

What are some strains you guys are running now?

Man we are running so many fun things currently but I’ll list a few

“Brigid Classics”

Blue Huey (Best I’ve seen in a while)

False Teeth (2017 Cannabis Cup Winner)

Citrus Farmer

Cookiehead

Mimosa #67

Citradelic Sunset

Some new strains we have been stoked on

-Double Black Diamond (Our Black Maple Selection)

-Tropicana cookies (Bloom Cut)

-Dulce De Uva (Bloom Cut)

-GTR (Afficionado Estates)

Any new strains that patients can get excited about?

I am extremely stoked with our Double Black Diamond. We just had our first harvest of her about 2 months ago. The rosin and flower were on point. I can’t wait to run her more and get that strain dialed in. The GTR pheno’s we have coming down the pipeline are looking phenominal as well. GTR quickly became one of our gassiest strains in the lineup. The #7 pheno has super strong sour notes.

What kind of extract services does Brigid Lab offer?

Currently we can do any and all forms of BHO processing and cart filling. We have just recently installed our new Osprey machine as well so we can begin to process solventless material for clients. My man Ryan is the head of our solventless lab. The passion this dude has for the plant is unmatched. I cannot wait to see some of the new hash’s he will be pumping out of the lab this year.

Brigid just announced the Hash Bash 4 for 2024. What are the requirements for entry, and when and where can competitors start dropping off their entry?

We have announced the date for Hash Bash 4. It is going to be on Saturday July 13th. The Hash Bash Team has been hard at work since the 1st of the year. We really want to try to capture the vibes we had last year. Hash Bash 3 was truly something special. Follow either of these pages for Hash Bash info @hashbash.me @Codemankush5.0.
