Hello and welcome! Thank you for being here please introduce yourself.
Hi this is Pete, primary caregiver and initiator of Funk House Farm.
Where did the name come from?
As far as the name? Funk House Farm? I’m forever searching for that elusive funk. Terps that you can’t describe with words, more like sound effects and wild gesticulation of the hands. You know? FUNK!!! Ultimately transforming your life work into a legal entity requires a name and Funk House Farm had good meter. No real story there.
What is your history with Cannabis?
I grew up with herb in Maine in the 90’s; Prohibition was real, quality and availability of cannabis was questionable, and without a strong security culture and a DIY ethos, you had no game. My relationship with the plant has evolved over the years registering as a patient in 2010 and as a Caregiver in 2012.
What are your current grow methods?
Today Funk House Farm’s focus is on consistent quality flower across a diverse number of cultivars. Towards this end, we hand water small flower rooms on a LED lighting/Coco-salts platform.
You guys have a very unique line up of strains. It seems like a big part of what you guys offer is having different strains than everyone else. What are things you focus on when picking out new strains for the garden?
When it comes to strain selections the primary considerations are terpenes and medicinal effect. A diverse library of plants on rotation keeps all the patients happy from the gas heads to the fruit lovers. I tip my hat to the cultivators out there that have truly dialed flagship strains, but one of my favorite things about cannabis is working with new plants; you learn so much. A new plant will teach you things you never knew about a strain you’ve been running for years. When a variety receives overwhelming crowd sourced approval over several runs, it becomes a staple on regular rotation.
Is there anything coming soon everyone can look forward to?
Some heat that will be dropping over the next month: Lava Breath, Ice 101 #3, Sherb Breath, Red Velvet. Some Flower that will be available in late August September: Lemon Cherry Gelato, Gary Payton, Alien Apple Kush, Runtz, Apples & Bananas Runtz. We also are processing with Oasis Refinery now and have begun offering strain specific cured resin cartridges and badders.
Where can patients find your products?
Our products can be found at a handful of medical storefronts and delivery services around the state and thru direct-to-patient sales (menu available at funkhousefarm.com). We are frequently on the menus at Clouded Valley Cannabis, Atlantic Farms, Cure Cannabis, Green Gnome Holistic's, Black Tie Cannabis, Sundog Caregiving, Stones Throw Cannabis, The Market and more.
Closing Thoughts / Anything You Would Like Patients To Know
In closing I’d just like to communicate that the Funk House flower is grown with positive intention and serious attention to detail. Hopefully this transfers into consistent positive patient experiences. Peace!
