We all have had it happen to us, we were going through our fresh stash of really nice high quality flower and we stumbled upon a seed or two. What we did with them is a different story. The majority get tossed away thinking by people thinking they are trash when in reality they could be a great new strain in the way so many have done before it. One of the absolute undeniable staples of cannabis is a strain called Chemdog, a strain born on the Grateful Dead lot, by a man named Greg "Chemdog" Krzanowski he acquired cannabis on "shakedown street" and when he got into it he found 13 seeds. He popped a few of them that later summer and the results were Chem 91 and Chem Sis. The story of Chem goes on and is very fascinating. We will be covering it separately in its own article.
A new popular strain on the market is Apple Fritter, it's so delicious and powerful there's no way it could have bag seed origins right? Wrong! Apple Fritter is a mix of Sour Apple and Animal Cookies. Sour Apple parent's both have bag seed origins. Sour D comes from 91 Chem, meanwhile Cinderella 99 was a bag seed found in a 2 gram package of Jack Herer purchased in an Amsterdam Smokeshop by breeder Mr. Soul of Brothers Grimm.
Not all bag seeds are equal, you are looking for a harvest that was healthy and just had a slight bit of stress that pushed out a few seeds. Sometimes growers will also part ways with seeded product they were using in breeding projects knowing that most users will just toss them away. These seeds would also be fine because they were pollinated the correct way and weren't due to environmental stress. If you have healthy looking bag seeds laying around you might as well toss them in some dirt and give them a try, you never know at the very least it'll probably getcha high!
