You truly cant know where the "Stoner Mobile" is going to make an appearance, but you can be sure we have the best Cannabis!
With Summertime getting in full gear, it’s time to start planning for America’s big day 4th of July! Maine being the Vacationland you can expect tons of great things to do on the 4th and over the weekend, whether you are bringing the whole family or looking for something fun to do by yourself.
If you are looking for something other than your standard 4th of July fireworks show, be sure to check out The Maine Folk festival at Thomas Point Beach Campground happening July 4th-7th featuring a ton of talented folk musicians. Thomas Point Beach lives up to its name as its located conveniently on a beautiful beach setting, with a family campground located on the property as well. Thomas Point Beach Campground is also very pet friendly. Dogs must remain on leashes but are free to join in on the fun!
Bath, Maine is celebrating its 50th anniversary of its Heritage Days July 4th-7th as well. This is the perfect opportunity to get the full Maine small town experience. Featuring Live Concerts, Art in The Park featuring 50 vendors, kids’ day at library park and of course fireworks + so much more!
Thursday at 7am will start off with a 1 and 5 mile race on Front Street, then the Heritage Days Parage will be happening at 10am on Lincoln, Centre & Front. From 10-10 on Commercial Street the Smokey's Greater Carnival & Games will be happening alongside local food trucks and a beer garden. At Library Park from 11-1pm there will be a Strawberry Shortcake Social. The Waterfront Stage will be rocking and rolling from 2-10pm. Queen Bee will be starting the show at 2pm with Papa Tim & The Whiskey Throttle Band going on at 5p and closing the night is Pat Colwell & The Soul Sensations with Fireworks going on at 9:15pm. That's all just day one, still three more days to go!
For those looking to spend some time down east there is the 4th of July Celebration happening in beautiful Bar Harbor. The day will start with the Rotary Club hosting its traditional Pancake Breakfast from 6-10am at the Bar Harbor Athletic Field. Once you grabbed a bite to eat you can head over to the craft fair and marketplace from 8am-3pm. But make sure you catch the Annual Independence Day Parade showcasing Patriotism and good humor.
All that sunshine and freedom is going to make you hungry again before you know it, so there is a seafood festival happening from 11am-2pm also at the Athletic fields. Once everyone’s gotten their fill of classic down east dining there is a concert series happening from 3:30pm-9pm leading up to the firework display happening approximately at 9:15pm over the Frenchman Bay. Something I find extremely awesome is the local stores and houses have been recommended to decorate in Red White and Blue.
If you aren’t looking to drive so far Boothbay Harbor is hosting its annual 4th of July Concert featuring the local Hallowell Community Band playing a selection of patriotic themed music and hits until dark when the fireworks kick off! This event should be less crowded than the others listed on here.
If you are looking to treat yourself to a getaway and want to Catch Some of Maine’s Vibes then the Linekin Bay resort may be just what you are looking for. Featuring something for the entire family or even just a fun getaway by yourself. Hangout in the heated salt water pool right alongside the rocks. Or if you prefer to go right into the Ocean there are convenient places alongside the docks to hop off and refresh in the cool Ocean. With Canoe, Kayak and Paddle Board rentals you can make a day hanging out on the Ocean.
Don’t forget though to head back to the resort where the great and talented local Reggae band Catch A Vibe will start playing at 4pm. If you have been to a Cannabis event in Maine chances are you have Caught A Vibe before. A cool thing about the Linekin Bay Resort is you can either stay overnight or just get a day pass!
For those looking to stay south York Maine is a great choice. Starting off with the
Four on The 4th Road Race at 6:30am-10:30am. Then you can head on over to Long Sand’s
Beach and splash around in the ocean. If you are feeling like you just can’t help but dance and feel like getting in the grove there is a dance party happening featuring the Parks and
Recreation Departments Instructors? I’ll be honest I don’t know but it sounds quirky which is a Maine staple and perhaps slightly awkward. York is also hosting events on the 6th as well!
Can’t make it out for the 4th? Wells may not have a long-standing 4th tradition but that’s
not stopping them from joining in on the celebrations. Wells is hosting a block party to close out the weekend on July 6th as part of the 2024 Well Harbor Summer Concert series which just recently kicked off the Deep Sea Blue Studio Orchestra. They will perform at the Hope Hobbs Gazebo starting at 6pm. This is sure to be a very laid back and relaxing way to end the weekend.
With so many great events happening around the state if you haven't been to Maine yet, 4th Of July is a very special time. Whether you are just kicking it at the lake with friends and family, or heading to an event it's sure to be a great long weekend with memories that will last a lifetime! Be careful though you may have such a good time you won't want to leave!
We at ILoveMeWeed hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July! Go celebrate your freedom and have a good time, but please be safe and use your best judgement. Maine is a beautiful state, and needs to be kept that way. Please be respectful of the land, and the people. Happy Birthday Murica'!!!!
